In the world of football, Qatar has been making waves, with its U23 3x3 team embarking on their World Cup campaign in China, and the FIFA U-17 World Cup set to take place on home soil.

The Qatari national team, currently ranked fifth in Asia and the fifth-highest Arab team, is preparing for the AFC qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. After a 0-2 loss to Slovakia in World Cup qualifying, Germany fell out of the top 10 of the FIFA World Rankings, with Qatar now holding the 12th spot.

The matches against Oman and UAE are part of Qatar's qualifying stages for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Qatar will face Oman on October 8, followed by a clash with UAE on October 14. These encounters are crucial steps in Qatar's journey towards the global football tournament.

Qatar's recent preparations for these qualifiers included two international friendlies in August. The team drew with Bahrain but suffered a loss to Russia. These matches provided valuable experience and insights for the Qatari squad as they continue their pursuit of World Cup glory.

Meanwhile, the FIFA World Rankings have seen some changes. Spain has reclaimed the top spot, marking their first time at the summit since 2014. France moved up to second place, while Argentina fell to third.

Valero Rivera, who previously coached Qatar from 2013 to 2023, has returned to lead the team for the 2026 World Cup qualification matches. Under his guidance, Qatar finished fourth in Group A of the AFC qualifiers, earning 13 points from 10 matches.

In the third round of AFC qualifiers, Iran topped Group A with 23 points, followed by Uzbekistan (21), UAE (15), Kyrgyzstan (8), and North Korea (3). Qatar's points total of 1,453.65, as recorded in the August FIFA World Rankings, reflects their steady progress in the global football landscape.

As Qatar continues to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the upcoming U-17 World Cup, fans and football enthusiasts alike eagerly await the team's performances in the coming months.
