Volunteer Opportunities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., is offering a unique opportunity for individuals to get involved as volunteers. Here's what you need to know about the Canadian volunteer program.

Eligibility and Requirements

To apply, you must be at least 18 years old at the time of application, be eligible to volunteer in Canada, and have a good command of English. Knowledge of French is considered an asset. No prior volunteering experience is required.

Interested individuals can apply online through the official FIFA World Cup 2026 volunteer portal at fifaworldcup.com/volunteers. The application form requires personal information and consent to terms, and applicants must select their host city, such as Toronto or Vancouver.

Application Process

Successful candidates will be invited to Volunteer Team Tryouts starting around October 2025. Training for selected volunteers will begin approximately in March 2026.

Volunteer Roles

As a volunteer, you will provide support across 23 functional areas at various official and non-official sites. Your role may include fan support, media operations, event logistics, and accessibility services.

Host Cities and Venues

In Canada, the City of Toronto alone is recruiting over 3,000 volunteers to help with the tournament, which will be held in several cities. Toronto's BMO Field will host six games, and Vancouver's B.C. Place Stadium will host seven games. Other venues include stadiums, training sites, airports, hotels, and more.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to use approximately 65,000 volunteers, making it the largest-ever volunteer program for FIFA. Volunteers are required to commit to eight shifts between June 11 and July 19, 2026.
