Fiery multi-car crash on A2 motorway leaves two injured and traffic paralyzed
A serious crash on the A2 motorway near Lehrte late Sunday night left one car overturned and engulfed in flames. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, where multiple vehicles had collided and at least two people suffered injuries. The incident unfolded when three cars collided on the busy motorway. By the time firefighters arrived, one vehicle had flipped onto its side and was fully ablaze. A total of 19 firefighters attended with four appliances, supported by ambulance teams and police. The driver of the burning car had already been pulled to safety by German Armed Forces personnel before crews arrived. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames, then applied foam to prevent reignition. They also secured the electric vehicle’s battery and sealed drainage channels with oil barriers to stop fuel or chemicals from contaminating the environment. The crash caused significant disruption, with emergency services working through the night to clear the scene. Two people were injured, and the motorway faced delays as crews ensured the area was safe. Authorities have not released further details about those involved.
