Formula 1's whirlwind of controversy calms down as FIA dismisses allegations against Toto Wolff

The FIA has quashed rumors of ongoing ethical and disciplinary investigations concerning Toto Wolff and his wife. The world motor sport association declared in a statement this evening that there are no such investigations underway. As the governing body, the FIA emphasized its duty to uphold the integrity of motorsport globally.
Tuesday night saw the FIA announcing an investigation into allegations of confidential information leaked to a Formula 1 team boss from an employee of the rights holder. The basis for this was a report by a specialized portal suggesting a conflict of interest involving Wolff and his wife, whose complaints were reportedly made to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. The report accused Susie Wolff, employed as Managing Director of the Formula 1 Academy, of accessing confidential information at the pinnacle of the racing series and sharing it with her husband.
In exchange, Toto Wolff may have passed on discussions between team principals to his wife, which then filtered back to the rights holder. A firm denial came from Mercedes, calling the allegations baseless and attacking the FIA for neglecting to inform the Formula 1 team beforehand about the investigation. Susie Wolff, the former racer, voiced her concerns on social media, suspecting intimidation and misogyny in the unfolding controversy. The Formula 1 administration was confident in the falsity of the allegations.
The remaining nine teams in Formula 1's elite class published similar statements Wednesday night, assuring the world governing body that no complaints about a potential conflict of interest had been lodged. The FIA verifiably enforces "appropriate safeguards" and believes that the Compliance System of the rights holder is robust enough to prevent unauthorized disclosure of confidential information.
