Festivities marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory were held in Almaty region, commemorating the triumph over fascism in World War II.

Feting the Brave Pioneers in Almaty Region

War veterans dwelling within the Almaty Region were graced by greetings from Kazakhstan's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. They were bestowed with congratulatory cards, commemorative gifts, jubilee medals "75 Years of Victory," and keys to renovated apartments in Konaev as a token of appreciation for their pivotal role in the victory.

Upon the directive of the region's Akim, Marat Sultanbayev, all war veterans residing in the area received a one-time social assistance of 5 million tenge each.

Anniversary Celebration in Konaev

The focal event for the momentous occasion took place at the "Dank" memorial in Konaev, attended by regional leadership, representatives of public and veterans' organizations, and scores of war veterans. The celebration was adorned by an orchestra from the department of emergency situations, and the veterans were ferried in electric vehicles.

War veterans Sultanbay Zharykbasov and Alym Kibirov were among the attendees.

"This victory symbolizes our history, our pride, and our life," Zharykbasov pointed out. "It's crucial that future generations remember the cost of our independence," Kibirov added.

The 75th anniversary of Victory was not merely a tribute to the heroism of our veterans but also a crucial milestone for the generations to come, emphasized the region's Akim, Marat Sultanbayev.

On this day, the regional head also paid a visit to veteran Oksana Demidovna Betebaeva, offered congratulations, delivered commemorative gifts, and handed over the keys to a newly renovated apartment in the city of Konaev. Their home, like others, was provided through sponsors.

Ongoing Celebrations throughout the Region

The entire region echoed with celebrations. Museums, libraries, and cultural centers hosted thematic exhibitions, memory evenings, and literary-patronage meetings. The regional library featured an evening "Heroism - an example for the people," and the "Atameken" center was abuzz with a meeting with People's Hero, Lieutenant General Sapargali Tokpaev.

In Almaty Region, the commemoration of Victory Day transcends a single day. An initiative spearheaded by youth has sparked the "80 years - 80 good deeds" action, aiming to extend targeted assistance to over 200 veterans. Ecological volunteers frequently visits the homes of war laborers and the solitary elderly, pitching in with cleaning and yard improvement. Patriotic excursions to military units and border posts are organized for schoolchildren and students.

The opening of the fifth international marathon "Great Steppe Journey" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory will be held on May 10. Previously, six republican and international competitions in futsal, relays, athletics, Kazakh wrestling, and national equestrian sports have been held, featuring over 500 athletes and approximately 5,000 spectators.

A republican tournament in horse racing was also organized by the physical culture and sports department in the village of Nura, Talgar District. Approximately 100 jockeys from different regions participated in the event, with winners receiving cash prizes and valuable gifts.

The climax of the festive week was the unveiling of a monument to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War in the village of Talas, Raimbek District, embodying heartfelt gratitude from their descendants.
