Festivities in MV's Oldest City: Fireworks Draw a Crowd

The charming town of Gadebusch is gearing up for a grand celebration as it marks its 800th anniversary with the 29th Münzfest, taking place from July 4th to July 6th, 2025. The festivities will be a blend of history, culture, and entertainment, attracting visitors from near and far.

The festivities kick off on Friday, July 4th, with a variety of activities across the Altstadt area. The evening will be highlighted by a fire artist performance at 10 PM, and a spectacular 20-minute fireworks display at the Burgsee at 10:45 PM. For music enthusiasts, DJ Revil T will be performing at the festival tent at Sportplatz Amtsstraße from 10 PM onwards, while Party band Back to Music will entertain the crowds from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Saturday, July 5th, promises to be a day filled with excitement. The day will commence with a large parade featuring dozens of decorated floats, local clubs, and music, starting at 2 PM. Throughout the day, the festival area will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM, offering a range of activities and entertainment. Visitors can enjoy coffee and cake at the museum complex from 11 AM to 5 PM, with exhibitions open to the public.

Christian Brandes, the German champion of magic, will captivate audiences with a magic show at 5 PM, followed by the Karate Club Gadebusch's performance from 7 PM to 11 PM. The highlight of the evening will be a performance by the popular Partyband "Right Now" from Berlin, from 19:30 to 23:30.

The grand parade for the Münzfest will take place on Saturday at 2 PM, and the proclamation of the best marksmen of Gadebusch's shooting guild of 1583 will take place on the festival stage at the market on Saturday, July 5th, at 12 PM. Münzprägung of the Godetalers will be available at the market on Saturday, July 5th, from 12 PM to 6 PM.

On Sunday, July 6th, the festivities continue with a festival service with Pastor Christian Schnepf on the festival stage at the market at 10 AM. The dance group of the children and youth center "FreiRaum" will perform twice on Sunday, at 1 PM and 4 PM. The art and craft street will be in the festival tent at Sportplatz Amtsstraße on Sunday, July 6th, from 11 AM to 5 PM, creating a painting for the 800th city anniversary.

The festivities will conclude with a brunch with the city's brass orchestra on Sunday, July 6th, at 11 AM. Ost-Comedy with Bauer Korl and Danny Buller will provide laughter and entertainment from 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM.

The mayor of Gadebusch warmly welcomed guests from partner municipalities during the opening, including Trittau in Schleswig-Holstein, Saint Germain du Puy in France, Czarnków in Poland, and Åmål in Sweden.
