Wacken Open Air 2022: A Heavy Metal Extravaganza Returns
After a hiatus in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the much-anticipated Wacken Open Air is set to make a triumphant return in Schleswig-Holstein's Wacken. The annual heavy metal festival, globally recognized as one of the largest of its kind, will run from July 28 to August 2, 2022.
This year's lineup promises a delight for metalheads, with headlining acts such as Guns 'N Roses and their lead singer, Axl Rose. Other performers include Gojira, Papa Roach, Machine Head, Saltatio Mortis, Apocalyptica, and Michael Schenker.
The festival will kick off with the traditional Wacken Firefighters' performance on Wednesday afternoon, after which the infield in front of the two main stages will be occupied by enthusiastic metalheads. Guns 'N Roses' performance at the Wacken Open Air will mark the end of their European and Middle East tour, making it an event not to be missed.
It's worth noting that all 85,000 tickets for the Wacken Open Air were sold since late September, indicating the high demand for this event. The festival has sold out for the year, making it a true testament to the enduring popularity of heavy metal music.
While the Wacken Open Air 2021 festival was canceled due to the pandemic, the organizers planned a smaller event called Bullhead City from September 16 to 18, 2021, featuring fewer bands on fewer stages with limited capacity and ticket options. However, the 2022 event is set to return to its usual format, promising a full festival experience for all attendees.
