Confessions of a French InterpreterReview by Terrance McArthur
Are you fluent in French? If yes, you‘re in luck! If not, don't worry, because Natacha Ruck speaks French exceptionally well. This year at Rogue, she's spilling the beans on her experiences as a French interpreter, traveling the world, and translating questions from reporters to French filmmakers, and vice versa.
On the upside, she's traveling the globe, working with celebrities from the film world, and learning the ropes of filmmaking. On the downside, she's had to hide behind couches, deal with translations that don't always make sense, and encounter some not-so-nice people.
Ruck engages with the audience, asking them about their knowledge of French phrases, chatting with fellow French showgoers, and even delegating questions to be asked. She's kind, gentle, and even told a heartwarming story about defending an interviewer from a filmmaker's inappropriate behavior. You don't want to miss spending time with Natacha Ruck! The final performances of Confessions of a French Interpreter are Friday, March 7, at 7 pm and Saturday, March 8 at 2 pm at the Spectrum Art Gallery, 608 E. Olive Ave. Tickets are $10. Don't forget to see this show, it's s'il vous plait (That means Please!).
The Ins and Outs-Sides of TeachingReview by Terrance McArthur
Imagine if you will, what emotions inside a teacher would look like in a Pixar/Disney movie. That's the premise behind Rogue Festival's "The Ins and Outs-Sides of Teaching."
Join Anger (Jayne Day), Anxiety (Renee Newlove), and Joy (Sara) in a crazy, adult-rated journey through a year of teaching Junior High. The performers deal with problem students, parents, administrators, holidays, and student death, using humor, intensity, and a bit of chaos to keep you on your toes.
The final performance of "The Ins and Outs-Sides of Teaching" is Saturday, March 8 at 5 pm at the Spectrum Art Gallery, 608 E. Olive Ave. Tickets are $10. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is seriously recommended!
Terrance V. Mc Arthur worked for the Fresno County Public Library for three decades. He's retired but not retiring, a storyteller, puppeteer, writer, actor, magician, basketmaker, and all-around interesting guy, always looking to make life more unusual for those around him.

Prescription BluesReview by Chelsea Jones
Get ready for a powerful, one-woman show about layla, an aspiring blues musician in her 30s, navigating the pressures of a mundane job and past heartbreak. Set in a small town, the performance uses blues music to explore layla's emotional journey of self-discovery, healing, and finding home.
This short play is written and performed by Mira Yarkova, an independent theater artist from Ukraine. With themes of love, loss, and personal growth, "Prescription Blues" is an intimate, emotional experience that will resonate with anyone who's experienced the healing power of music.
