Get ready for an exciting weekend in Schwerin as the city hosts the Dragon Boat Festival from August 22 to 24, 2025. Here's a rundown of the events happening during this time.
Dragon Boat Festival Activities
The Dragon Boat Festival will feature numerous dragon boat races, catering to both seasoned racers and beginners. Approximately 2,500 participants, both from Germany and abroad, are expected to take part in the event.
On top of the races, the 22nd Cabaret Festival will also be held as part of the Dragon Boat Festival. The exact schedule for the cabaret events has not been disclosed yet.
The grand prize-giving ceremony for the Dragon Boat Festival will take place on Sunday at 2:30 PM.
Music and Performances
The weekend will not only be about dragon boat racing. There will be plenty of music and performances to enjoy.
On Friday, Revolverheld, a band from Hamburg, will perform at the Schweriner Schlossgarten at 7 PM. The band will celebrate 20 years of band history during their performance at the Dragon Boat Festival. Later that evening, at 8 PM, Tom Bomelino will take the stage at the Speicher with his show "Postponed due to Apocalypse."
On Saturday, Max Beier will perform his show "Love & Order" at the Soziokulturelles Zentrum in Röntgenstraße at 8 PM.
Sunday will see Nicole, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982, performing at the Schweriner Schloss' inner courtyard at 8 PM as part of her Carpe-Diem-Tour.
Photography Exhibition
If you're a photography enthusiast, don't miss the "Music Music" photo exhibition opening at the MV-Fotogalerie in the Schwerin Volkshochschule in Puschkinstraße on Sunday at 3 PM. The exhibition features the work of eight photographers from the MV-Foto association.
Summer Festival Activities
Apart from the Dragon Boat Festival, various summer events in Schwerin aimed at families and people of all ages will take place from August 22 to 24, 2025. These events will create a broader weekend festival atmosphere during these dates, offering activities for children and dragon boat fans.
After-Parties
After the Stadtwerke-Sprint-Cup race on Friday, a Welcome Party will begin with DJ Christage performing. On Saturday, following the fireworks display during the Dragon Boat Festival, an After-Show Party will take place at Zenit.
A traditional fireworks display is scheduled for 10:45 PM on Saturday during the Dragon Boat Festival.
