Festival at Tomorrowland, Belgium proceeds despite the destruction of its main stage - Festival at Tomorrowland, Belgium persists following main stage inferno

The highly anticipated Tomorrowland Festival in Belgium is set to open its doors today, despite a devastating fire that destroyed the main stage just days before the event. The blaze, which occurred on Wednesday night, left only a 160-meter wide and 45-meter high skeleton of the main stage standing by Thursday morning.

Videos of the burning main stage were posted online by eyewitnesses, showing a dramatic and unsettling scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The Antwerp public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the incident, labelling it as an "unintentional fire."

Organisers of the festival, known for hosting some of the world's biggest electronic music DJs such as Charlotte de Witte, Steve Aoki, and David Guetta, have been working tirelessly to find alternative plans. As of now, no official or detailed alternative plans have been reported.

Despite the setback, the spirit of the Tomorrowland Festival remains undeterred. Attendees, who often describe the event as one big family, have shown resilience in the face of adversity. Marie, a festival-goer, expressed her sadness about the main stage fire but was glad that the event was still happening.

Tomorrowland is one of the world's largest electronic music festivals, attracting over 400,000 visitors over the next two weekends. The organisers have expressed their loss for words regarding the main stage incident but have assured fans that the show must go on.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with no clear answers as to what sparked the blaze. The public is encouraged to remain patient as organisers work to ensure a safe and enjoyable festival experience for all.

As the festival opens its gates today, the focus shifts from the main stage fire to the music, the lights, and the unforgettable memories that Tomorrowland is known for creating. The show must go on, and it seems that the Tomorrowland family is ready to make the most of it.

The Commission, in light of the circumstances, has decided to initiate the procedure provided for in Article 93 (2) of the Treaty, aiming to offer financial assistance to help rebuild the main stage of the Tomorrowland Festival, a renowned platform for entertainment, including music. Despite the incident, the festival, known for hosting world-class electronic music DJs, continues to embody the spirit of unity and perseverance, with attendees eagerly anticipating the music, lights, and unforgettable memories the event is renowned for creating.
