Ferries to Wangerooge and Juist cancelled - Ferry services to East Frisian islands halted by ice and low water

Ferry services to two East Frisian islands have been halted due to icy conditions and low water levels. Crossings to Wangerooge were suspended earlier today, while Juist remains cut off from the mainland as well. The disruptions have left passengers stranded.

The first suspension affected routes to Wangerooge. Ice buildup on the water and unusually low water levels forced operators to cancel all sailings. The conditions made navigation unsafe for both vessels and passengers.

Reederei Norden-Frisia, the company running services between Juist and Norddeich, later announced its own cancellations. No ferries will depart for Juist today, mirroring the earlier decision for Wangerooge. The operator cited the same hazardous conditions as the reason.

Passengers planning to travel to either island must now wait for conditions to improve. The suspensions will remain in place until ice clears and water levels rise. Further updates are expected from both ferry operators later today.
