Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton can't bag the eighth world title, and Italian media ponders why. The veteran racer shares his take on the speculations swirling around him.

Ferrari's dilemma hasn't prompted Hamilton to consider retirement.

Lewis Hamilton Fires Back at Retirement Speculations

Montreal - Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton is standing firm against rumors of his impending retirement. The 40-year-old Briton, now racing for Ferrari, dismissed such talk, saying, "I've only just started at Ferrari; it's not going to happen that I'll give up." He went on to address the Italian press, "To certain people: Stop making up these stories!"

While Hamilton has faced tough times at the start with the Scuderia, he remains hopeful, highlighting his commitment to the team for several years. Despite a lower-than-desired sixth place in the drivers' championship, he emphasized, "I'm here for several years, and there are no doubts in my mind."

A Blow to Media Rumors

Hamilton also addressed Italian reports of an impending dismissal for Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur. "I fully support Fred. He's the main reason I came to Ferrari," said Hamilton, showing his backing for Vasseur. He added, "I work very well with him. I only heard about these stories upon arrival in Canada, and unfortunately, I must say: Most people have no idea what's happening behind the scenes at Ferrari."

Speculations about Vasseur's potential replacement have been a hot topic, but Hamilton brushed them aside as "nonsense." He warned against such a move, emphasizing that building a new team structure would be challenging at the traditional racing stable.

An Eighth Title in Sight

Recent media reports suggest that Hamilton is gaining influence within the team, potentially leading to decisions that prioritize his success, such as focusing on the 2026 car rather than the current season. Ferrari has indeed shifted focus to Project 678, their new car for 2026. While speculations about the design of this car with Hamilton in mind persist, the motorsport superstar remains committed to the team from Maranello.

"Lewis Hamilton, in a bid to clear misconceptions, asserted, 'I'm here for several years, and there are no doubts in my mind,' hinting at his continued involvement in sports, specifically Formula 1. Disregarding Italian rumors, he also expressed support for Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur, stating, 'I fully support Fred. He's the main reason I came to Ferrari,' indicating his inclination towards sports such as hockey may not be on the horizon."
