Ferrari Switch Announced by Lewis Hamilton, with Unfiltered Opinions Shared for Year 2025
In the 2025 Formula One season, seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton has faced an uphill battle adjusting to his new team, Ferrari, after a successful 12-year career with Mercedes.
Despite the move, Hamilton's performance has not significantly improved with the Ferrari SF-25. He has encountered ongoing difficulties, including issues with the car's power steering and braking systems, and struggles to extract competitive race pace compared to his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc.
One of the key challenges Hamilton faces is the power steering issues, which limit his ability to push the car effectively. Another problem lies in the braking performance, linked to Ferrari's design philosophy and braking system architecture, which differ considerably from Mercedes. These issues have affected Hamilton's confidence and race consistency.
Recent discoveries have uncovered a critical technical fault within Hamilton's SF-25, which might be causing sudden drops in his performance. This technical glitch requires urgent changes in Ferrari's development strategy.
Moreover, the SF-25 has fundamental structural limitations, meaning even recent upgrades haven't fully resolved these performance issues.
Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, emphasised that everyone in the team is pushing in the same direction, despite temporary disappointments. Vasseur also mentioned that athletes, including Hamilton, can sometimes make harsh comments in the heat of the moment.
Hamilton himself admitted to feeling the need to pinch himself, still struggling to believe he's driving for Ferrari. He found the team at Maranello to be more impressive than expected and expressed a sense of pride while working with them. Despite his comments about feeling frustrated, Vasseur stated that Hamilton is not demotivated.
Hamilton's decision to switch teams was influenced by the presence of his former GP2 team boss, Fred Vasseur, who is now the team principal at Ferrari. His recent comments about Ferrari were made to French publication RTBF Actus.
As of August 2025, Hamilton's adaptation to the SF-25 has not translated into a clear performance improvement compared to his previous Mercedes career or even relative to his current teammate. In the last race at the Hungaroring, Hamilton started in P12 and finished in the same place. However, he has managed to win two of their teammate battles at Imola and Silverstone.
Despite the challenges, Hamilton finds the Ferrari badge impressive and loves being in the red Ferrari. He is determined to overcome these difficulties and make a mark in his new team.
Hamilton's struggle to adapt to the SF-25, as seen in his performance at the Hungaroring, highlights his ongoing challenges, with P12 starts and finishes.Nevertheless, he expresses a keen interest in the sports news about Ferrari, showing his determination to improve and make a name for himself in the sports world with his new team.
