Ferrari on the verge of claiming its inaugural victory of the season?
In the second practice session of the race at the Baku City Circuit, Max Verstappen maintained his dominance, setting the fastest time. However, it's worth noting that he didn't secure pole position in the last four years, with Lewis Hamilton claiming victory at Baku in 2018.
Charles Leclerc, a specialist at this track, came close to Verstappen, finishing just 0.074 seconds behind the Red Bull driver. Despite his strong performance, Leclerc has yet to secure a win at the Baku City Circuit.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, who set his fastest lap with less fuel on board, chose to sit out the second practice session. His teammate, Lando Norris, ended his session early after making contact with the walls, similar to Oscar Piastri who continued with some damage after a similar incident.
Ferrari, who have a good chance of securing a place in the first row at the Baku City Circuit, chose not to participate in the second practice session. The championship leader also seemed to struggle in the long run, not appearing as dominant as usual.
McLaren, on the other hand, faced challenges in the second practice session, with both Norris and Piastri making regular contact with the walls. This dip in performance follows a strong showing in the first session.
As the race approaches, Ferrari and Charles Leclerc will aim to convert their pole positions into victories at the Baku City Circuit. Meanwhile, Verstappen will look to build on his practice session success and challenge for the win. The stage is set for an exciting race in the heart of Baku.
