In the picturesque streets of Monaco, the Monaco Grand Prix 2025 roared to life with a day of practice sessions filled with high-speed action, close competition, and a few setbacks.

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time World Champion, showed promising signs of progress, edging ahead of Charles Leclerc with a best lap of 1min 41.29sec. Hamilton, bidding for his first win since the Belgian Grand Prix last year, is chasing a record-increasing 106th win. However, he encountered some issues earlier in the day, with problems with the brakes in the morning session, which were swiftly resolved for the afternoon.

Hamilton's teammate, Oscar Piastri, had a mixed day. He locked up at Turn Two with 20 minutes remaining, showing he was pushing hard. Piastri, who is aiming to become Australia's third champion and first since Alan Jones in 1980, finished the session in 12th place. Piastri himself considers his performance up and down.

Piastri's teammate, Lando Norris, had a costly crash in the second session, damaging his suspension and left rear wheel. Norris, who was pushing hard in his long run laps, indicated high performance before the mishap. The Baku track, known for its unforgiving nature, seemed to take its toll on Norris.

Charles Leclerc, the current favourite according to many, had a less than ideal day, stating he didn't do a great job. Leclerc acknowledges McLaren's strong performance in the session and believes they will be surprising competitors the next day.

McLaren, however, endured a difficult afternoon, with scrapes and suspension failures. If successful, Hamilton would become the first F1 driver to score 5,000 points.

The Monaco Grand Prix 2025 promises to be a thrilling event, with the top teams and drivers battling it out on the iconic circuit. As the sun sets on the Mediterranean, the stage is set for an exciting race weekend.
