Female cyclist Pauline Ferrand-Prevéot clinches the stage victory and the coveted yellow jersey at the summit of Col de la Madeleine during the Tour de France Femmes.

In an impressive display of cycling prowess, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot (Visma-Lease a Bike) claimed victory in Stage 8 of the Tour de France Femmes 2025, a mountainous stage that culminated at the summit of Col de la Madeleine.

The French rider showcased her formidable climbing skills, finishing nearly 1 minute and 46 seconds ahead of Sarah Gigante (Australia) and more than three minutes ahead of other contenders. Niamh Fisher-Black (New Zealand) rounded out the top three, 2 minutes and 15 seconds behind Ferrand-Prévot.

The stage saw a breakaway group form early in the race, consisting of riders such as Riejanne Markus, Niamh Fisher-Black, Elise Chabbey, Evita Muzic, Marion Bunel, Justine Ghekiere, Magdeleine Vallières, Ana Santesteban, Yara Kastelijn, Lotte Claes, Ruth Edwards, Mareille Meijering, Franziska Koch, and Hannah Ludwig.

However, as the race progressed, the breakaway began to fracture. Kastelijn and Fisher-Black were left clear, but their advantage started to diminish. Meanwhile, Ferrand-Prévot, buoyed by the support of her teammate Marion Bunel, steadily closed the gap.

With just 8 kilometres left, Ferrand-Prévot bridged up to the remaining breakaway riders. In the final kilometres, she pulled away, leaving Gigante more than 2 minutes behind and a group containing Niewiadoma-Phinney and Vollering further adrift.

Ferrand-Prévot's victory not only secured her the stage win but also propelled her into the yellow jersey, marking her as the overall race leader. The overall lead of Ferrand-Prevot over Gigante now stands at 2 minutes and 37 seconds.

This impressive performance sets Ferrand-Prévot up well for the remainder of the Tour de France Femmes 2025, as she aims to secure her first French win since 1990. The race continues to captivate audiences with its intense competition and thrilling stages.

Sports enthusiasts rejoice as Pauline Ferrand-Prévot dominates Tour de France Femmes 2025. With formidable climbing skills, she claims victory in Stage 8, establishing a significant lead over her competitors.
