Felix Magath takes unexpected step, ascends to Regionalist position
In a significant move for the Regional League club Viktoria Aschaffenburg, football legend Felix Magath has taken on a new role as the club's Sport Director. After his unsuccessful candidacy for the presidency of Hamburger SV in May, Magath, a native of Aschaffenburg, is returning to his roots on a voluntary basis.
Viktoria Aschaffenburg stands to benefit immensely from Magath's "excellent expertise" gained from a long and successful career in professional football, both in Germany and abroad. His role as Sport Director will initially be on a temporary basis, to be confirmed by a member's meeting at a later date.

With Magath's experience, Viktoria Aschaffenburg hopes to make a sporting advancement and continue its development in the Regional League. Magath himself was a youth player and later a player for Viktoria, but his most successful years were spent at Hamburger SV, which may have influenced his application for the HSV presidency.
Magath is not new to saving clubs from relegation. In 2022, he successfully saved Hertha BSC from relegation against Hamburger SV. This move, along with his extensive experience as a player and coach, is expected to drive the sporting development of the entire Viktoria Aschaffenburg club.

The supervisory board has unanimously expanded the board of directors, with Matthias Hartmann joining alongside Magath. Jürgen Rösch is leaving his position due to a career change, with Hartmann taking over.
As the election for the board of Viktoria Aschaffenburg approaches this year, Magath and others will stand for election, aiming to continue the club's path of financial consolidation and further its sporting success.
