Cologne signs midfielder from FC Bayern Munich - Felipe Chávez joins 1. FC Cologne on loan from Bayern Munich

Eighteen-year-old midfielder Felipe Chávez has joined 1. FC Cologne on loan from Bayern Munich for the rest of the season. The deal includes an option for Cologne to sign him permanently, though Bayern retain the final say on his future.

Chávez has made just two Bundesliga appearances for Bayern this term. His first came as an 83rd-minute substitute in an 8–1 thrashing of VfL Wolfsburg on January 11. His second was in a 2–1 loss to FC Augsburg, where he again featured off the bench. Across both games, he recorded no goals or assists.

In contrast, his performance in a January 6 friendly against RB Salzburg stood out. Coming on at half-time, he scored Bayern's third goal in a 5–0 win. Earlier this season, while playing for Bayern's second team in the Regionalliga Bayern, he netted four goals and provided two assists in 19 matches.

Cologne have now secured his services until June. The club will assess whether to trigger the permanent transfer clause at the end of the campaign.

The loan move gives Chávez a chance for more first-team football. His impact in pre-season and regional league form suggests potential, though his Bundesliga experience remains limited. Bayern will decide his long-term future after the loan spell concludes.
