Feldberg ski resort reopens after surprise late-season snowfall

The Feldberg ski resort has announced a surprise revival of its winter season after heavy snowfall transformed conditions. Operations will restart on March 31, 2026, following an early closure due to poor weather. The resort had originally ended its season on March 22, but fresh powder has brought back ideal skiing and snowboarding opportunities. Before the unexpected reopening, the resort faced difficult conditions. Mild temperatures and a lack of snow after Carnival forced an early shutdown on March 22, 2026. Yet, by March 27, a sudden cold snap and 30-40 cm of fresh snow reversed the situation. Snow depths now range from 20 to 71 cm, with the Stollenbach lifts reporting the best conditions of the season.

When operations resume on March 31, conveyor belts and several lifts at Grafenmatt will be available. The Seebuck chairlift will follow on April 1. A chairlift with gondolas will also open in summer mode on April 3, catering to pedestrians. All winter facilities will remain open until Easter Monday, April 6, 2026. After that, a multi-week maintenance period will begin before summer operations start on May 1, 2026.

The resort's sudden reopening gives winter sports enthusiasts extra days on the slopes. Facilities will close again after April 6 for maintenance, with summer activities set to begin in early May. The unexpected snowfall has provided a late-season boost for visitors and the local tourism industry.
