The incident unfolded in Pomellen on Wednesday, as the vehicle, registered in the Netherlands, traveled from Poland into the country. Federal police officers spotted the vehicle and pulled it off the highway, subsequently disclosing the situation on Thursday. The driver showed no criminal history.
A prolonged investigation leading to this apprehension revealed a plethora of unauthorized pyrotechnic items stashed in the van. The accumulated net explosive mass totaled nearly 68 kilograms, translating to an estimated 4,000 euros in value. As the driver breached the Explosives Act, they now must defend themselves against these charges.
