Four Wanted Individuals Arrested at Düsseldorf Airport for Fraudulent Residence Permit Obtaining
In a series of arrests on September 3, 2025, the Federal Police at Düsseldorf Airport apprehended four wanted travelers, all of whom were sought by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Görlitz for fraudulent residence permit obtaining.
The first individual, a 47-year-old Georgian woman, arrived from Istanbul, Turkey, and was controlled by Federal Police officers in the afternoon of that day. She was able to pay a fine of 1,500 euros, thus avoiding imprisonment for 50 days. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Görlitz had issued an arrest warrant in February of this year for the woman, who had been convicted in May 2023 for the same offense.
Simultaneously, a 48-year-old Georgian man, also arriving from Istanbul, Turkey, was controlled. He too was sought by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Görlitz and had an arrest warrant issued in April of this year. The search results do not provide information on which judge or public prosecutor in Germany issued the warrant against the Georgian woman arrested at the airport.
In another case, a 39-year-old Spanish man, living in Düsseldorf, was arrested during an emigration control on a flight to Istanbul, Turkey. The man had been wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Düsseldorf since August 2025 for fraud. He was able to pay a fine of 1,800 euros to avoid imprisonment for 18 days. The Spanish man had been convicted in August 2024 but did not comply with the served sentence, resulting in a warrant being issued.
Finally, a 26-year-old Polish man, wanted by the Regional Court of Bamberg, was arrested during an immigration check on a flight from Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The man had a remaining sentence of 62 days outstanding at the time of his arrest. He was living in Poland and was handed over to the judicial authorities after the arrest warrant was opened by the Federal Police. The Polish man had previously been sentenced to a youth detention sentence of four years and eight months for illegal import of narcotics in June 2021.
All four cases involved fraudulent obtaining of residence permits. The arrests serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding the law and the consequences of attempting to circumvent the legal system.
