Standing Together: House of Reps Boosts Plateau with ₦100m After Violent Attacks
Federal Lawmakers Offer ₦100 Million in Aid to Plateau Attack Victims
In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, our elected representatives have stepped up to help out Plateau State, providing an emergency fund of ₦100 million to the beleaguered state government and affected local areas following a string of violent attacks.
This generous contribution, led by none other than former Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Idris Wase, was presented to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang during a condolence visit on May 1, 2025. The visit was instigated by a directive from the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
The breakdown of the financial aid looks like this:
- ₦50 million goes directly to the Plateau State Government
- ₦20 million is earmarked for Bassa Local Government Area
- ₦20 million is set aside for Bokkos Local Government Area
- ₦10 million is slated for Riyom Local Government Area
Upon receiving the funds, Governor Mutfwang expresses profound gratitude to the lawmakers and Plateau caucus for their compassionate gesture and swift response. He acknowledges their unity and empathy, especially in these trying times of sorrow and displacement.
The governor also capitalizes on the opportunity to bring attention to the pressing infrastructure challenges in the affected areas. He urges urgent improvements in rural road networks and communication systems to bolster emergency response and accessibility.
In other developments, the recent fire at the Terminus Market in Jos has left countless traders in dire straits. Describing it as an "unfortunate setback for tenacious Plateau citizens," Governor Mutfwang vows immediate aid to victims. He reiterates that every effort will be made to ensure the spirit and resilience of these traders are not dampened.
Across the nation, awareness is growing about the escalating threats of terrorism and banditry. Recent meetings among key figures, including Vice President Shettima, Oborevwori, Okpebholo, and other governors, have been held to discuss these issues further.
