Federal law enforcement officials have reportedly apprehended 18-year-old alleged attackers and charged them with crimes related to vandalizing ticket machines.
On the evening of April 17, 2025, an incident occurred at Magdeburg-Salbke Train Station that disrupted the normal operations of the ticket machine. At around 22:20, an employee reported the damage to the Federal Police Inspection Magdeburg.
Upon arrival, a patrol of the Federal Police found a ticket machine with severe damage, making it inoperable. Nearby, they discovered a German man aged 18, who was holding a hammer. The suspect was found near the damaged ticket machine.
The suspect displayed aggression, resisted police measures, and threatened the officers. As a result, he was arrested for charges of aggravated theft, insult, threat, criminal damage to property, and resisting law enforcement.
In an unusual turn of events, the suspect tried to retrieve the hammer and continued to do so despite being told not to. He was subsequently restrained and cuffed. The hammer, the suspected weapon in the incident, was secured by the officers.
Fortunately, the cash boxes from the damaged ticket machine were not stolen. This was confirmed by the Federal Police at the scene.
