Man Arrested on Train in Halle (Saale) Faces Charges

On August 20, 2025, a 29-year-old Afghan national caused a commotion on a train at the main station in Halle (Saale). The man refused to leave the Amtrak train, leading to a confrontation with railway staff and the police.

The incident began when the man, whose name remains unknown, refused to comply with requests to leave the Amtrak train. He then proceeded to kick towards two officers and resisted police measures, attempting to strike and insult railway staff during the removal process.

In the ensuing chaos, the man dropped a knife, which was swiftly secured by the officers. The man continued to flee the scene, running across the train tracks and onto an Intercity Express at platform two.

The Federal Police Station in Halle (Saale) was notified to establish the passenger's identity, and the man was taken to the nearby police station for positive identification.

The man's actions have resulted in charges for violations of the Criminal Code, the Weapons Act, and the Railway Construction and Operating Regulations.
