Federal Law Enforcement Carries Out Arrest Warrant: Suspect Pays 1750 Euros and Evades 70-Day Imprisonment (Aged 28)

A 28-year-old German man was arrested by the Federal Police in Halle (Saale) on Monday, September 1, 2025. The arrest was in relation to a fraudulent benefits case that was sentenced by the Bitterfeld-Wolfen District Court in August 2021.

The individual was sentenced to a fine of 1,750 euros or a substitute custodial sentence of 70 days for fraudulently obtaining benefits in eight cases. However, the individual had neither paid the required fine nor surrendered to the punishment, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant by the public prosecutor's office in Dessau-Roßlau in April 2022.

Upon arrest, the 28-year-old immediately paid the outstanding amount, thereby avoiding a 70-day imprisonment. The Federal Police executed the arrest warrant and took the suspect into custody. They also informed the competent authority about the enforcement of the arrest warrant.

The Regional Court of Bitterfeld-Wolfen had sentenced the individual to the aforementioned penalties in August 2021. The arrest warrant for the individual was issued due to the individual's failure to pay the fine or serve the custodial sentence.
