"Federal Government Refutes Extradition Allegations Against Simon Ekpa"

Amidst whispers of extradition, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has stepped forward to clarify matters concerning separatist agitator Simon Ekpa.

In a candid statement released on Friday, Fagbemi squashed rumors of pending extradition proceedings against Ekpa, attributing the media frenzy to a misrepresentation of his remarks at a recent Stakeholders/Citizen Engagement Forum held in Abuja.

The AGF stated emphatically, "Contrary to some media reports, there has been no initiation of extradition proceedings against Ekpa. What I said during the Q&A session was merely that the Nigerian government is actively engaging with Finnish authorities to ensure Ekpa faces justice for his actions" 2.

Fagbemi explained that Ekpa's offenses are of a cross-border nature, implying that Nigeria is monitoring ongoing legal proceedings in Finland before making an informed decision on its next steps 2.

"Since Ekpa's alleged crimes transcend national borders, the Nigerian government is keeping a close eye on the unfolding trial in Finland. The ultimate goal is just and equitable resolution, guided by the rule of law" 4, the AGF further clarified.

As the ordeal unfolds, the media is urged to exercise caution and avoid sensationalism, given the sensitive nature of the issue at hand.
