Federal authorities in Germany will issue a cautionary statement on the 11th of September.
Nationwide Civil Defense Drill Scheduled for September 11th
Mark your calendars, as the annual nationwide civil defense drill is set to take place on Thursday, September 11th. This exercise is held annually on the second Thursday in September.
In the city of Lünen, a total of 28 sirens will sound as part of the drill. These sirens serve as an alert signal and do not contain detailed information. They are primarily used to grab the attention of citizens and signal the start of the drill.
The city administration advises citizens to stay calm, seek shelter in a building, close doors and windows, and follow further instructions via apps or radio in case of an actual emergency. This is not just a drill; it's a chance for everyone to practice and prepare for potential emergencies.
For more information about the drill, you can visit bundesweiter-warntag.de. If you'd like to receive updates, you can subscribe to the city's WhatsApp channel at www.unser-website/whatsapp.
During the drill, citizens can also receive additional information via supplementary channels such as warning apps, radio stations, or the digital offers of the city of Lünen. It's essential to stay informed and prepared.
The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) will send out test warnings via NINA and the Cell Broadcast system. However, it's important to note that the emergency number (110/112) should only be used for immediate emergencies during an actual emergency situation.
The siren test in North Rhine-Westphalia will follow a uniform warning regulation. A one-minute steady tone will signify the all-clear, followed by a one-minute ascending and descending tone as a warning signal, and finally another one-minute steady tone for the all-clear.
The drill will start at 11 AM in the city of Lünen. After the drill, the BBK will send the all-clear signal via warning apps at 11:45 AM. However, during the drill, the BBK does not send the all-clear signal via Cell Broadcast.
The online survey for the drill will be provided by the BBK at warntag-umfrage.de starting at 11 AM. The Lünen Fire Department requests feedback on the audibility of the sirens during the drill. Reports can be sent via email to bevoelkerungsschutz@feuerwehr-unser-website. It's crucial to specify the location for the feedback report as accurately as possible (neighborhood, street, and house number if applicable).
Finally, the test message via Cell Broadcast will be sent to all compatible mobile phones. Stay safe, and be prepared for the upcoming nationwide civil defense drill.
