Federal authorities adjust charges against Percoco, Kaloyeros, and other executive officials
In a recent development, a revised indictment has been filed in the corruption case against Syracuse business executives Steven Aiello and Joseph Gerardi, along with others. This marks the third version of the indictment since November.
The search results do not contain any information about the specific changes in the allegations against Aiello and Gerardi. However, it is known that each of them faces two counts of bribery, in addition to the earlier mentioned false statement counts. The latest indictment separates what was a single count of Aiello and Gerardi lying to federal authorities into four separate counts.
Aiello and Gerardi, executives at Cor Development, are the only defendants facing charges in both trials. They are also accused of falsely denying that they made payments to Joseph Percoco, the former executive deputy secretary to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and that they helped tailor a state request for proposals to benefit Cor Development.
In addition, Aiello and Gerardi face three counts of wire fraud, in addition to the earlier mentioned counts. The case against them is reportedly built on lies from former lobbyist Todd Howe, who has pleaded guilty and is cooperating with prosecutors.
The first trial in the case is still scheduled to begin on January 8 in U.S. District Court in Manhattan. A second trial will begin in June. The specifics of the changes in the allegations against Aiello and Gerardi remain unclear from the available sources.
Stay tuned for more updates as the trial progresses.
