FC Süderelbe Wins Both Men's Tournaments at Harburg Hallen Cup Charity Event
The Harburg Hallen Cup, the largest football games charity tournament in southern Hamburg, kicked off over the weekend. The event, held in memory of Günter 'Paule' Falk, raised funds for local schools and a kindergarten. The tournament will continue on the weekends of January 20th and 21st with the games of the Super-Seniors, Old Men, and Seniors.
FC Süderelbe emerged victorious in both the 1st and 2nd men's football games today. They won the 1st men's tournament on Sunday after a thrilling penalty shootout against Dersimspor, with HSC finishing in 3rd place. On Saturday, FC Süderelbe secured the 2nd men's tournament, with Harburger TB 2 and Harburger SC 2 taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
The tournament, organized since 1986 by Harburg's football legends, including Manfred von Soosten who was honored for his lifetime achievement, has raised over 250,000 euros since its inception. The funds are donated to Nymphenweg and Elfenwiese schools, and the Elfenwiese kindergarten, alternating between the three institutions. The first weekend collected around 5,000 euros for a good cause. The football games today of Nymphenweg and Elfenwiese schools also had an exhibition match, with Nymphenweg school winning 3:4.
The Harburg Hallen Cup continues this weekend, starting at 9 am on Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. The remaining football games will feature the Super-Seniors, Old Men, and Seniors.
