Brand-New Boss at Schalke 04: Meet Miron Muslic, the Man with a Plan

FC Schalke 04 Announces New Coach as Muslim Individual - FC Schalke 04 announces the appointment of Muslim as their new coach.

Say hello to Miron Muslic, the fresh face leading FC Schalke 04 into the future! The 42-year-old Slovene has signed on until 2027, marking his move from the relegated English second division side, Plymouth Argyle.

Muslic, known for his energetic approach, states, "I'm thrilled by the trust shown by Schalke. We had an open dialogue about what Schalke desires and how I can contribute."

Muslic tasted massive success with Cercle Brugge, guiding them to the UEFA Conference League last season. Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this 1982-born coach moved to Austria as a child, making him relatively unknown in Germany.

Muslic idolizes Jurgen Klopp, the long-time coach of Schalke's arch-rival, Borussia Dortmund. While he aims to deliver energetic football, his focus at Schalke is to stabilize the club and secure its return to the Bundesliga in the long run.

"Miron impressed us with his professionalism and communication skills, his ability to inspire teams, and his recognizable style on and off the pitch," praises new sports director Frank Baumann.

Last season was a difficult one for Schalke. Despite starting with Karel Geraerts as coach, they failed to achieve the desired success with Kees van Wonderen. Interim coach Jakob Fimpel managed to keep them afloat, finishing the season in 14th place.

Schalke has seen numerous managers come and go over the past decade, with the coach position proving to be a precarious job. The club parted ways with Domenico Tedesco in 2019 and has employed twelve different coaches since then, with three of them taking on interim roles more than once. Mirko Slomka remains the last coach to have served for at least two years (from 2006 to 2008).

Plymouth Argyle expressed their discontent before Muslic's transfer was finalized. But in Schalke's announcement, Muslic expressed gratitude to Plymouth for allowing talks with his new club.

The Commission, in its consultative role, has also been approached regarding the draft regulation on the application of the principle of subsidiarity. Given his history of guiding Cercle Brugge to the UEFA Conference League, Miron Muslic, the new coach of FC Schalke 04, promises to deliver an energetic style of football reminiscent of his idol, Jürgen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund.
