Schwartz’s departure was agreed upon by both the coach and the club. His exit follows a strong start to the season, which quickly faded into a winless streak. The team had narrowly missed promotion to the 2. Bundesliga earlier this year after losing in the playoffs.

Assistant coach Dimitrios Moutas has also left his position. In the meantime, sporting director Jürgen Luginger will step in as interim head coach until the winter break. He has confirmed he will take full responsibility during this period.

Karsten Specht, director of the club’s youth academy, will assist Luginger in the transition. The team now looks to stabilize before making a long-term appointment.

The club will operate under Luginger’s leadership for the coming weeks. His interim role is set to last until the winter pause. Meanwhile, Saarbrücken aims to turn around their recent struggles in the league.
