FC Krasnodar Eyes Madjid Ashimeru as Midfield Boost
FC Krasnodar is showing interest in signing central midfielder Madjid Ashimeru from Belgian club Anderlecht. The Russian Premier League side is exploring the possibility of adding the Ghanaian international to their squad in the coming months.
Krasnodar, currently in third place in the RPL with 20 points after 10 matches, is eager to strengthen its midfield. Ashimeru, who has been with Anderlecht since summer 2021 and has a contract until 2027, could be a valuable addition. His market value is estimated at €1.5 million by Transfermarkt.
The 25-year-old has represented Ghana in 12 international matches but is yet to score a goal. Krasnodar's interest in Ashimeru comes as they prepare for crucial matches, including a Russian Cup clash against Dynamo Moscow today and an RPL fixture against Akhmat Grozny on October 4. Preliminary talks are underway between the two clubs.
With Krasnodar tied with Lokomotiv Moscow on 20 points, just one behind leaders CSKA, bolstering the squad with a player like Ashimeru could prove pivotal in their title race. The potential signing could further enhance Krasnodar's position in the RPL, with Zenit trailing in fourth place on 19 points.
