FC Cosmos Koblenz is unable to accumulate any league points.
FC Cosmos Koblenz's Derby Victory Under Threat
In a dramatic turn of events, the recent derby victory of FC Cosmos Koblenz over FC Rot-Weiss Koblenz in the Oberliga Rhineland-Palatinate/Saar is under scrutiny. The game, which took place at the Stadion Oberwerth on Tuesday evening, saw 470 spectators witness Cosmos Koblenz secure a 2:1 win. However, the game management of the Football Regional Association (FVR) Southwest is considering revoking the three points won by Cosmos Koblenz due to errors in player substitutions during the second half.
As a newcomer to the league, Cosmos Koblenz, coached by Yusuf Emre Kasal, made a total of five player substitutions during the match. The first substitution took place in the 59th minute, with Xhenis Kryeziu replacing Meric-Nuh Gültekin. This was followed by the substitution of Leon Rashica for Nao Oriyama in the 63rd minute, and Jeremy Mekoma replacing Dennis Arnst in the same minute. Emil Simonyan was substituted in for Taha Aksu in the 76th minute, and Marsel Tahiri was substituted in for Khery Hamka in the 80th minute, making two additional substitutions.
However, the issue lies in the fact that the two additional substitutions exceeded the limit of three stoppages in play. Each team is only allowed to substitute a maximum of five players, but the limit of three stoppages in play must be adhered to. Half-time does not count towards the limit of three stoppages in play.
If the points are revoked, FC RW Koblenz may be awarded the points, and the game may be given to Rot-Weiss. It is also possible that if Rot-Weiss files a protest against the game's outcome, the points may be awarded to them. As of now, there are no available records indicating who filed the protest or when it was submitted.
Despite the potential controversy, the derby was a thrilling game for the spectators in attendance. The winning points for Cosmos Koblenz were scored in the first half (1:0) and the second half (2:1). It remains to be seen how the FVR Southwest will rule on the matter.
