FC Bayern receives transfer of Woltemade from Stuttgart prior to Supercup final, subsequently declined

In a decisive move, VfB Stuttgart has ruled out the transfer of striker Nick Woltemade to FC Bayern Munich for the 2025 summer transfer window. The club's CEO, Alexander Wehrle, stated unequivocally that Woltemade "is our player and he will play for us this year," effectively closing the transfer file after Bayern failed to meet Stuttgart's asking price of around €75 million.

Despite Bayern offering over €60 million and extensive negotiations involving top executives from both clubs, Stuttgart refused to accept anything below their valuation, leading to the rejection of Bayern's bids. Woltemade himself expressed a desire to join Bayern, but Stuttgart's coach Sebastian Hoeneß confirmed he would play a central role for Stuttgart in the 2025-26 season, further indicating the club’s intent to retain him at least for now.

Woltemade was included and played against Bayern in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, reinforcing Stuttgart’s stance that he remains part of their squad. The long-term contract of Woltemade, which runs until 2028, is a significant factor in Stuttgart's decision to reject FC Bayern's offer.

Internally, Bayern faces some conflict regarding the failure to secure Woltemade this summer, triggering discussions about pursuing him more aggressively in the next transfer window, potentially in 2026.

In a twist of events, VfB Stuttgart and Woltemade's agent will meet again in the coming days to discuss a possible salary increase. The sporting director of VfB Stuttgart, Fabian Wohlgemuth, also emphasized that the transfer topic for Woltemade is now closed, and no further discussions about the transfer of Woltemade to FC Bayern will be made.

The Super Cup match between VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern took place on Saturday evening, with Woltemade playing a crucial role in Stuttgart's performance. As the dust settles, it appears that Woltemade may now hope for a salary increase instead of a transfer.

Football remains a key part of Nick Woltemade's future at VfB Stuttgart, as indicated by the club's decision to reject FC Bayern Munich's bid and Woltemade's inclusion in the Super Cup match. Despite Bayern's continued interest, Stuttgart seems determined to retain their star striker for at least the upcoming season.
