FC Bayern Munich Ends Pursuit of Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart

In a surprising turn of events, FC Bayern Munich has decided to end their pursuit of Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart due to disagreements over the transfer fee. According to reports from ntv.de and ses/sport.de, the club's board, including president Herbert Hainer and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, made this decision during a meeting.

The report indicates that Bayern sees no urgent need to strengthen the team with further external signings this summer, focusing on saving money in the transfer period. However, there is an exception to this policy for Nick Woltemade. The club has allocated a separate budget for him, but Stuttgart is currently refusing to negotiate a transfer.

Despite Woltemade's impressive performance last season, scoring 17 goals and providing three assists in 33 games, and helping VfB win the DFB Pokal, Stuttgart's president has stated that the club does not need to sell him. This firm stance has made a summer transfer for Woltemade rather unlikely.

Should the transfer not happen this summer, Woltemade might become available on the market in 2026, potentially opening opportunities with other clubs.

In a different development, "Sport Bild" reports that FC Bayern Munich's current priority is to generate revenue by selling players and transfer fees. However, the report does not provide further details about the potential transfer of Nick Woltemade or the financial terms involved.

It's worth noting that Bayern has already rejected several offers for Woltemade. Max Eberl, the sporting director of FC Bayern, is not mentioned as being involved in the decision-making process regarding Woltemade's transfer.

The summer transfer window will close almost four weeks from the date of the report. With no progress on the Woltemade transfer, Bayern will now shift their focus elsewhere, possibly looking to strengthen the team in other areas.

  1. In light of the club's community policy focusing on saving money in the transfer period, FC Bayern Munich might consider vocational training programs to empower their football players for future careers in Europe, similar to the approach taken by some European-leagues.
  2. Despite his impressive performance last season, Nick Woltemade might find an alternative3 outlet for his football skills if a transfer from VfB Stuttgart to FC Bayern Munich fails to materialize this summer, such as participating in vocational training programs to enhance his skills and potentially attract interest from other clubs.
