CBP agent in DC was targeted with sandwich throw by a suspect identified as a DOJ employee, according to Bondi's claims.

FBI suspect, allegedly hurling a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer in Washington D.C., was an employee with the Department of Justice, according to reports by Bondi.

In a recent development, Sean Charles Dunn, a former employee of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and an Air Force veteran, has been charged with felony assault after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer in Washington, D.C.

The incident, which took place around 11 p.m. on a Sunday in northwest Washington, was captured on video and widely circulated online. Dunn, 37, is said to have shouted profanities and insults at the officer before throwing the sandwich at his chest.

Following his arrest, Dunn was released on his own recognizance and is due for a preliminary hearing on September 4, 2025. In the aftermath of the incident, Attorney General Pam Bondi fired Dunn from his DOJ position.

During the incident, Dunn allegedly shouted, "F--- you! You f---ing fascists! Why are you here? I don't want you in my city!" before attempting to flee. He was later apprehended and admitted to throwing the sandwich during police processing.

This case has drawn attention as emblematic of local resistance to federal law enforcement measures in D.C., reflecting broader political and social tensions. District Council Member Brooke Pinto expressed concern about the increased federal presence in Washington, D.C., stating that it paints a picture of a city that is not her own and is not the experience of the vast majority of district residents and visitors.

Sean Charles Dunn served as a cyber transport systems specialist in the Air Force from 2006 to 2011 and worked as an international affairs specialist in the Criminal Division's Office of International Affairs at the DOJ.

Notably, Jared Wise, another DOJ member, was pardoned by President Donald Trump while on trial for his participation in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Trump has maintained his stance on fighting crime in D.C., despite the decrease in violent crime statistics.

The U.S. Attorney for D.C. emphasized the seriousness of the assault charge and supported law enforcement backing. Our website has reached out to Dunn's attorney, Sabrina Shroff, for comment.

This incident occurred amid heightened tensions and an increased federal law enforcement presence authorized by former President Donald Trump. D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb made a statement on social media, expressing his support for the CBP officer involved in the incident.

The alleged incident was captured in a video posted to Instagram. Trump, in response to the decrease in violent crime in D.C., stated that fighting crime is a good thing and suggested that instead of criticizing him, people should join him to make Washington safe.
