FBI probes explosive incident at Tesla Supercharger station in Lacey, Washington

In the early hours of Tuesday, a Tesla Supercharger station in Lacey, Washington, was severely damaged in a targeted bombing. The incident occurred outside a Target store at approximately 1:34 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers from the Lacey Police Department found a destroyed power cabinet and significant damage to associated electrical switchgear. The bombing caused extensive damage to the charging infrastructure but did not result in any injuries.

Law enforcement is treating the incident as a potential act of domestic terrorism. Detective Sergeant Jeremy Knight of the Lacey Police Department stated, "We are working closely with our federal partners to investigate this matter. The FBI has formed a dedicated task force to track and investigate attacks on Tesla facilities."

The U.S. federal government designated vandalism targeting Tesla as a form of domestic terrorism earlier this year, authorizing FBI jurisdiction.

Tesla, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has confirmed the incident and is coordinating with the Lacey Police Department, FBI, and Puget Sound Energy to get the Superchargers back online. The company is also reviewing camera footage related to the incident.

This latest bombing at the Tesla Supercharger station in Lacey represents a dramatic escalation in what appears to be a campaign of politically motivated sabotage. Months of increasing hostility and demonstrations against Tesla and CEO Elon Musk have led to protests, boycotts, and acts of vandalism at Tesla facilities worldwide.

Similar attacks have targeted Tesla Service Centers, vehicles, and charging infrastructure, with incidents ranging from graffiti and tire slashing to arson.

Local detectives are urging anyone with information about the bombing to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
