FBI Discloses Classified Paper Unveiling Dramatic Turn in Pursuit of Trump-Russia Investigation Origins

Newly Declassified FBI Document Alleges False Testimony by Nellie Ohr in Trump-Russia Probe

A recently declassified FBI document has implicated Fusion GPS contractor Nellie Ohr for falsely testifying to Congress about her role in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, which probed alleged links between Donald Trump's campaign and Russia. The document, obtained exclusively by the Daily Mail, suggests that the Washington Field Office's Federal Public Corruption squad was tasked with reviewing a Congressional Criminal Referral that accused Ohr of obstructing the investigation and providing demonstrably false information.

The evidence against Ohr, as outlined in the document, indicates that she provided a thumb drive of all her Fusion GPS research to her husband, Bruce Ohr, who was the Associate Deputy Attorney General at the time of the case and was aware of the ongoing investigation by the Justice Department. Nellie Ohr also communicated with three DOJ Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force Section (OCDETF) prosecutors, prompting concerns within the FBI regarding potential conflicts of interest.

The document also highlights discrepancies in Nellie Ohr's testimony about her ham radio classes. She initially claimed to have taken them before working at Fusion GPS, but the FBI analysis revealed that these classes were taken during her employment in mid-2016. This discrepancy adds to doubts about her motives and intentions.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley responded strongly to the release of the document. In an exclusive statement to the Daily Mail, he stated, "By lying to Congress, Nellie Ohr showed contempt for congressional oversight and the American people." Grassley criticized the FBI and Department of Justice for failing to hold Ohr accountable, alleging that their inaction reflects a "deeply disturbing political bias" and undermines public trust in the rule of law.

It is worth noting that Fusion GPS was hired by the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign to investigate Trump's connections to Russia. Fusion GPS is responsible for assembling the infamous 'Steele Dossier' that was later shared with Obama administration officials and a select group of Washington journalists.

Grassley's efforts to bring transparency to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation have grown more fruitful, as he is now collaborating with Trump's appointees at the FBI and the Justice Department to expose allegedly questionable behavior from the Obama and Biden administrations.

Overall, the evidence against Nellie Ohr suggests falsification of testimony, potential obstruction of the investigation, and conflicts of interest. The lack of prosecution by the Department of Justice has been met with criticism for its potential implications on public trust in the rule of law.

  1. The declassified FBI document implies that Nellie Ohr, who was involved in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, provided false information to Congress about her role.
  2. The document reveals that Nellie Ohr communicated with DOJ prosecutors, which raised concerns within the FBI about potential conflicts of interest regarding war-and-conflicts and policy-and-legislation matters, particularly those related to the Trump-Russia probe.
  3. Politics and general-news outlets have reported on the discrepancies in Nellie Ohr's testimony and the lack of accountability by the Department of Justice, raising questions about the political bias and public trust in the rule of law.
