Fayette County's Fair Queen has been selected as a member of the Iowa State Fair Queen's Royal Entourage.

Fayette County's Fair Queen has been selected as a member of the Iowa State Fair Queen's Royal Entourage.

In a grand celebration at the 2025 Iowa State Fair, Alexandria Kent, a resident of West Union, Iowa, within Fayette County, shone brightly, earning the prestigious Personality Plus Award.

Despite Riah Schrage from Grundy County being crowned as the new Iowa State Fair Queen on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage, Alexandria was recognised for her exceptional personality and charisma with the Personality Plus Award.

The week-long activities at the Iowa State Fair, which included workshops, interviews, and evaluations, saw Alexandria excel amongst 102 contestants who had advanced from local county competitions.

The Fayette County Fair Queen herself, Alexandria was also honoured as a member of the Royal Court at the Iowa State Fair. Other notable mentions include Ashlynn Gunnerson of O'Brien County, who was named first runner-up, Annalise Buxton of Union County, second runner-up, and Emery Hawkins of Appanoose County, third runner-up.

Kelsey Greenslade of Dallas County was awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award, further highlighting the exceptional talents showcased at the event.

The judging criteria for both the Fayette County Fair Queen and Iowa State Fair Queen competitions are comprehensive, focusing on personality, attitude, awareness, leadership, citizenship, contributions to the community, overall appearance, charm, and poise.

Emily Foran of Audubon County received the Queen Alumni Award in honour of Julie Wolterman, adding another layer of excitement to the fair.

Riah Schrage, the new Iowa State Fair Queen, will undoubtedly carry the spirit of camaraderie, leadership, and charm that was evident throughout the event, as she embarks on her reign.
