Fayette County Fair Queen Recognized as a Contender in Iowa State Fair Queen's Panel
In a grand ceremony on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage, Alexandria Kent was crowned the new Iowa State Fair Queen. The 2025 fair was a memorable one for Kent, as she was also named the recipient of the prestigious Personality Plus Award at the event.
Kent's victory came after a rigorous competition that saw 102 contestants advance from local county competitions. The judging process considered various aspects, including the contestants' personality, attitude, awareness, leadership, citizenship, contributions to the community, overall appearance, charm, and poise.
Alexandria Kent was not the only one to receive recognition at the fair. Riah Schrage, who was chosen as the new queen, also received a floral bouquet from Boesen the Florist, a plaque from the fair, a $200 Visa gift card, and a $500 scholarship.
The Queen Alumni Award was presented to Emily Foran in honour of Julie Wolterman. Meanwhile, Kelsey Greenslade of Dallas County received the Outstanding Leadership Award.
The competition was fierce, with Ashlynn Gunnerson of O'Brien County being named first runner-up, Emery Hawkins of Appanoose County as third runner-up, and Annalise Buxton of Union County as second runner-up.
The Iowa State Fair Queen competition is a cherished tradition, showcasing the best of Iowa's young talent and community spirit. Each year, the event brings together contestants who embody the essence of leadership, charm, and poise, making it a highlight of the fair.
