Favorites for LIV Golfers' US Open Wagers: DeChambeau and Rahm Take the Lead in Odds

Gambling on LIV Golfers at the U.S. Open: What Are the Odds and Which Ones to Back?

The upcoming U.S. Open at Oakmont is eagerly anticipated, as 14 LIV Golf League players prepare to take a swing. But what are their betting odds, and who should you consider placing your bets on?

For the first time in history, there's a direct route from LIV Golf to the US Open, thanks to a new exemption category created by the USGA. However, most of the LIV contingent has made it through other means.

Leading the pack is Bryson DeChambeau, the defending champion, and former winner Jon Rahm, who's heating up after challenging at the PGA Championship.

Betting Odds for LIV Golfers

  • 8/1 - Bryson DeChambeau
  • 12/1 - Jon Rahm
  • 33/1 - Joaquin Niemann
  • 50/1 - Brooks Koepka
  • 50/1 - Tyrrell Hatton
  • 100/1 - Cameron Smith
  • 100/1 - Patrick Reed
  • 100/1 - Dustin Johnson
  • 150/1 - Carlos Ortiz
  • 200/1 - Marc Leishman
  • 250/1 - Richard Bland
  • 300/1 - Phil Mickelson
  • 300/1 - Jinichiro Kozuma
  • 500/1 - Josele Ballester

Favorites: Bryson & Rahm

Betting on Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm could prove fruitful, as they're the standout favorites from the LIV Golf group.

DeChambeau, the defending champion, has shown that his big-hitting game is well-suited to the US Open test, with two wins in five years. Although he finished T15 at Oakmont in 2016 in his first US Open, he's been a Major force recently, placing T6 or better in five of the last six, including second at the last two PGA Championships.

Rahm, on the other hand, might just give DeChambeau a run for his money. He finished the tournament as low amateur at Oakmont in 2016 and won the US Open in 2021, demonstrating that he has the game for it. After a strong showing at the PGA, he might have the momentum to excel in Majors once more.

Each-Way Shots

Brooks Koepka missed the cut in both Majors this year and appears to be off the mark. Therefore, of the mid-range options, Tyrrell Hatton and Joaquin Niemann might be the best each-way shouts.

Niemann, a two-time champion, has been impressive on the LIV Golf Invitational Series, and his first Major top 10 at the PGA Championship indicates he might have finally figured out how to compete in the big one. If he can follow up his performance at Quail Hollow with a quality Sunday showing at Oakmont, he could secure another top 10.

Hatton had a disappointing PGA after a promising Masters, but that's a common theme for him in Major tournaments. If he can start well at Oakmont, he could challenge, but a late fadeaway is always a possibility—just like it was during last year's US Open, when a Sunday 77 caused him to freefall down the leaderboard after a top 10.

Value Bets

While the likes of Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson might hold some sentimental value, betting on them may be more about hope and nostalgia than realistic expectation.

US Senior Open champion Richard Bland can mix it with the youngsters but may struggle over the grueling four days at Oakmont. The returning Marc Leishman could finish higher than expected for a 200/1 shot after qualifying through a playoff.

However, the two 100/1 shots that deserve attention are Cameron Smith and Patrick Reed.

Smith remains an elite putter, and while he's missed the cut in his last three Major events, his prowess on the greens could help him thrive on Oakmont's rapid putting surfaces. If he can just manage to get his driver under control, he could perform exceptionally well at the US Open.

Reed missed the cut at the PGA after finishing third at The Masters, but his Major game remains intact. He's only missed the cut once at the US Open and could sneak into the frame come Sunday.

The upcoming U.S. Open at Oakmont could see a new winner from the LIV Golf League, with Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm being the standout favorites, given their impressive performances in Majors. While Brooks Koepka might have struggled this year, Tyrrell Hatton and Joaquin Niemann could be the best each-way shouts among the mid-range options. Additionally, Cameron Smith and Patrick Reed also offer value at 100/1, with Smith's elite putting skills and Reed's consistent Major game potential factors for a strong showing.
