Weather Forecast for Madison, WI: Warm Weekend Followed by a Cold Front

The weather in Madison, WI, is set to provide a warm and humid weekend, followed by a significant change early next week.

Throughout the weekend, temperatures will warm up, with highs reaching the middle 80s by Saturday, and remaining in the upper 70s to low 80s for the rest of the weekend. However, a cold front is expected to pass early next week, bringing cooler and drier weather with highs dropping into the 70s midweek.

The humidity levels will be elevated due to tropical moisture, contributing to a muggy feel, but will decrease once the cold front moves through.

As the week progresses, the wind will become more southerly. Unfortunately, this change in weather also brings an increased chance of rain, particularly during the weekend.

On Sunday night and Monday, there is a significant chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain, with storm activity increasing especially Monday evening. Some central Wisconsin areas might experience heavy rainfall rates of over 4 inches. This storm activity could potentially produce gusty winds over 55 mph, and localized urban flooding due to already saturated ground, especially along rivers and urban zones.

The storms could bring lightning and damaging wind gusts, potentially disrupting travel and outdoor activities on Monday afternoon and evening. The storm chances should diminish by Monday night as the front passes, and drier conditions settle in.

For today, the high temperatures will reach the lower 80s across most of southern Wisconsin. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing weather situation.

The warm and humid weekend in Madison, WI, will be followed by a significant drop in temperatures as a cold front moves through early next week. The humidity levels, elevated by tropical moisture during the weekend, will decrease once the cold front passes.
