Father of Beyoncé́ expresses view that each performance by singer serves to build her legacy

In a casual chat with The Sunday Times, Mathew Knowles—Beyoncé's legendary father and the 73-year-old music whiz—revealed the moment he knew his young daughter was destined for greatness. This reverberated back to when she was just a kid, showing off her talents in a primary school talent show.

As she prepared to take the stage, Beyoncé confidently declared, "I want to hurry up and win my $100 prize and my trophy... I know I'm going to win." And boy, did she ever! Once she stepped onto that stage, she utterly transformed, exhibiting a fierce determination that left Mathew in no doubt—his little girl was about to conquer the world.

Looking back, Mathew believes he was the ultimate manager Beyoncé ever had. He attributes himself to crafting her first albums and paving the way to her unparalleled success. "After 21 years of managing Beyoncé, I smile because even now music magazines talk about her top 20 pop songs, 70 per cent of which are from her first four albums, which are the ones I was part of," he boasted.

With a beaming grin, he added, "To know that I was a part of that, that I... let her understand the importance of brand development, and that 30-40 per cent of her team are people I hired 30 years ago... It makes me feel proud and grateful that I built the road map for Beyoncé's success. That makes me feel good," the proud papa explained.

However, Mathew has grown weary of being tagged as "Beyoncé's dad." With a career that stretched far and wide, overseeing the growth of various artists, he yearns to be recognized for his endeavors beyond merely being linked to his superstar daughter. "I've worked with numerous artists beyond Beyoncé and Destiny's Child. I've been instrumental in the careers of many," he added, hinting at the multitude of talents he's nurtured in the music industry.

Beyond Beyoncé and Destiny's Child, Mathew Knowles' management extended to his other daughter, Solange, who transitioned from being a Destiny's Child dancer to an acclaimed singer in her own right. Additionally, he successfully facilitated collaborations with notable artists like Mary J. Blige, Eve, Floetry, Mario, and Nelly during his tenure as President at Music World / Sanctuary Urban[1].

Mathew Knowles' impact on the music industry was significant and far-reaching, encompassing various genres and numerous artists. But when it came to direct management, his focus remained centered on his immediate family and Destiny's Child[1][3]. With a career spanning decades, Mathew Knowles stands as a pioneer in the music industry, shaping countless careers and leaving an indelible mark on the world of pop music.
