Little Nastia and the Heartbreaking Tragedy of an Iranian Rocket Attack in Israel

Father met tragic demise due to Iranian missile strike; his entire Ukrainian family perishes in the same attack during their engagement in military service at the front lines.

In the heartbreaking aftermath of an Iranian rocket strike in Israel, a seven-year-old Ukrainian girl, Nastia, and four other family members met a tragic end. The tragic incident took place in the city of Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv on a fateful Sunday.

Nastia, who was battling leukemia, had relocated to Israel for treatment approximately two and a half years earlier from the Ukrainian city of Odessa. Clientele on the Israeli news portal, Ynet, shared the sad news. Lena, Nastia's grandmother, and her two young cousins were also casualties of the rocket attack. Unfortunately, searches continue for Nastia's mother, Maria, who is presumed dead.

In a heartwrenching twist, Nastia's father was fighting against Russian invaders in Ukraine at the time of the attack. Israeli President Izchak Herzog expressed his condolences in a poignant statement, stating: "She came in search of life. Instead, she was murdered - along with her mother Maria, her young cousins Konstantin and Ilja, and her grandmother Lena - by a deadly Iranian rocket."

At least eight individuals lost their lives, and many more were injured in the strike on a multi-story building in Bat Yam.

Israel retaliated against Iran following a major air strike last Friday in a bid to prevent the country from developing nuclear weapons. The Israeli government regards Iran's nuclear and missile programs as the gravest existential threat to the Jewish people.

As tensions escalate between Iran and Israel, more than 800 individuals have been injured, and 24 people have been killed since the war's onset, according to official statistics. Meanwhile, the human rights network HRANA, which is based in the US, has reported 188 injuries and 224 civilian deaths in Iran.

Sadly, as the situation unfolds, the tragic losses continue. Ofir Belo, the son of Yaakov and Hadassah Belo, who were among the five people killed in attacks on Petah Tikva and Haifa on June 16, 2025, shared the devastating news while fighting in Ukraine.

The Belo family circumstances add to the sad dimensions of their loss, as they were targeted during a time when Ofir was involved in the conflict in Ukraine.

In the midst of the escalating hostilities, international organizations like Amnesty International have urged both Israeli and Iranian authorities to prioritize civilian protection and adhere to international humanitarian law amid the ongoing conflict.

  1. The community policy must address the escalating war-and-conflicts between Iran and Israel, particularly regarding the protection of civilians in the environment, as Amnesty International urges both authorities to prioritize civilian protection and adhere to international humanitarian law.
  2. Alongside general-news headlines about the Iranian rocket attack in Israel, environmental concerns have been raised, with the effect of war-and-conflicts on the environment gaining attention, as the ongoing conflict may have significant impacts on the environment.
