Fatal motorcycle accident occurs within Waterford city streets
A tragic incident has occurred on Waterford's Williamstown Road, where a fatal collision between a car and a motorcycle took place around 1 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s named Mark O'Sullivan, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination. The car driver, a woman in her 30s, sustained injuries considered non-life-threatening and was also taken to the hospital.
Gardaí (Irish police) are actively investigating the incident. They have appealed for any witnesses to come forward, especially road users who may have dash-cam footage from the area between 12:50 pm and 1:30 pm, as well as homeowners with CCTV footage along Williamstown Road.
The road where the crash occurred remains closed due to an ongoing forensic collision examination, and local diversions are in place.
Tributes have been paid to Mark O'Sullivan, a father of four and respected member of the community, with messages from local biker clubs expressing condolences to his family.
