Fatal Motocross Accident at Solano County Dirt Bike Facility Claims Life of Rider
In a tragic turn of events, a dirt bike racing event in Solano County ended in tragedy on Sunday morning. Aaron Bissell, a 52-year-old man from Reno, was pronounced dead at the scene following a crash at Argyll Park on Cook Lane in Dixon.
The event was a series of competitions put on by the "Over the Hill Gang" (OTHG), a veteran motocross club with chapters in California and Nevada. Bissell, who was a devoted member of the OTHG, was described as an 'expert' driver and a core member of the club. His loss will be deeply felt by the OTHG community.
The crash occurred at around 10 a.m. near the dirt track, which is located off Highway 113 and is about 15 miles southeast of Vacaville. Medics found Bissell unconscious in a pond adjacent to the track. A group of bystanders, including off-duty trauma nurses, rushed in to help Bissell, removing him from the pond and engaging in CPR until first responders arrived.
Despite their best efforts, Bissell could not be revived. The closest emergency responder crew was 15 minutes away, adding to the urgency of the situation. Chief Phil Jones of the Vacaville Fire Protection District (VFPD) expressed gratitude for the bystanders who assisted at the scene, as well as the on-site medical team for their rapid response.
Bissell is remembered as a fearless rider, always pushing the limits and inspiring others with his passion for motocross. He is survived by his beloved wife Rachel and their family. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
