Fatal A9 Accident: Driver Dies After Heart Attack

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the A9 motorway on Monday morning around 10:50 AM. The incident involved three passenger cars and resulted in significant damage and one fatality.

A 56-year-old driver from the Leipzig area, driving a Volkswagen Tiguan, lost consciousness due to a heart attack while driving. The vehicle subsequently collided with a Ford S-Max and then a 1-series BMW before coming to a halt half on the hard shoulder. Tragically, the Volkswagen Tiguan driver died at the scene despite immediate first aid and resuscitation attempts. The passenger in the Ford sustained light injuries, but no other personal injuries were reported.

The accident caused significant damage, with an estimated cost of around 20,000 euros. The Volkswagen Tiguan was severely damaged and had to be towed away. The Berlin-bound lane was fully closed for medical assistance and road cleaning, reopening at 12:15 PM.

The accident on the A9 between Lederhose and Hermsdorf South on Monday morning has resulted in one fatality and significant damage. The cause of the accident was a heart attack suffered by the driver of a Volkswagen Tiguan. The road was closed temporarily for emergency services and cleanup.
