Breaking News 🚨 Farmer Leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal Placed Under House Arrest in Punjab

In today's rapid-fire news, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal finds himself under house arrest in Faridkot, Punjab. This move comes a day before senior farmer leaders from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Sidhupur) are planning a one-day strike outside the Shambhu police station on Tuesday.

To thwart any potential law-and-order situation, the police have taken several key farmer activists into custody from various districts of Punjab. A police team visited Dallewal's village as early as 4am and requested the leader to stay indoors for a few days.

Other farmer leaders are reportedly facing police action as well, in an attempt to impede the BKU (Sidhupur) from mobilizing its cadre for the agitation.

Expressing his discontent on Facebook, Dallewal slammed the police action against the Sidhupur faction. He claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is persecuting the farmers' rights group that is advocating for justice.

According to Dallewal, union activists were to gather outside the Shambhu police station to bring attention to alleged police misconduct and harassment of volunteers. He alleged that during a police crackdown at Khanauri and Shambhu on March 19-20, protesters faced police misbehavior, and several personal belongings, including tractors, disappeared.

The union demands compensation for the missing items as part of the protests. However, Dallewal accuses the police of letting the culprits, who are allegedly associates of AAP leaders and police personnel, off the hook. Instead, he claims the police started targeting individuals tracking the missing items of farmers.

Dallewal asserts that as the government attempted to derail their planned protest on May 6, a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between farmers and the government has taken place.
