Antony Starr Bids Farewell to Homelander in "The Boys"

Antony Starr, the New Zealand-born actor known for his role as Homelander in Amazon's hit series "The Boys," has completed filming for the fifth season of the show. After wrapping up production, Starr posted an emotional farewell to his iconic character on Instagram, calling it the highlight of his career.

Born in 1975, Starr gained international fame for his portrayal of Homelander since the series premiered in 2019. Before this, he was acclaimed for his work in the New Zealand TV series "Outrageous Fortune" and studied drama and fine arts at the University of Auckland.

In his emotional post, Starr expressed gratitude towards the cast, crew, and production teams, highlighting how "The Boys" lives in its own lane and was a unique experience in television. He also noted the challenge and satisfaction of playing such a complex and "complicated" character, stating that while this chapter of his creative life is now closed, he will miss it deeply.

Eric Kripke, the show's creator, called Starr "co-parent" of the character Homelander. Kripke announced on Instagram that filming for the final season of "The Boys" had wrapped, marking the end of an era for the series.

As for future plans, no specific details about Starr’s projects or directions following his departure from the role of Homelander have been disclosed as of now. However, given his passion for acting and history of diverse roles, it can be inferred that he will continue pursuing challenging and varied acting opportunities.

In addition to Starr's emotional farewell, "The Boys" spin-off "Gen V" is returning to screens soon. The second season of "Gen V" will air on September 17 on Amazon's streaming service Prime Video.
