Uncovering this Week's Criminal Elite: Behind the Scenes of Sundays' Most Notorious Offenses - Farewell to Sunday Night Crime TV Personalities

If you're hankering for a heart-wrenching rollercoaster ride, get ready to dive into the tragicomedy that's got everyone talking, "Dying for Beginners." This visceral drama has actor Edin Hasanovic (33) playing the bittersweet role of a mourning music manager, turned unconventional funeral director, named Eric.

In an exclusive chat with ZDF, Hasanovic shared his emotional journey while reading the script. "I figured I'd read the first 20, 30 pages or so and decide if it was worth diving into. But, then I found myself shedding tears, hooked to the story so tightly that I couldn't resist saying yes to director Christian Klandt," he confessed.

Embracing the End: A Tough Goodbye

The narrative revolves around Eric's heart-rending struggle to bid adieu to his terminally ill best friend, Alex (Max Hubacher). Haunted by uncertainty, Eric seeks solace in a job at a funeral home. Alongside Alex's pregnant girlfriend, Karla (Svenja Jung), Eric faces the whirlwind of emotions swirling around the disputes over Alex's burial sites between his parents, Birgit (Steffi Kuhnert) and Paul (Wolfram Koch), and Karla. The tension mounts as Eric grapples with his own failed music management career, teetering on the brink of chaos. But, as a funeral director amid conflicting relationships, he must find the strength to bring everyone together, and do it with love.

Looking out for him and keeping things organized is Eric's stern boss, Volker Mutz (Peter Kurth). The path to peace and closure may be bumpy, but Eric's journey will surely lead him to unexpected yet endearing solutions.

Frankfurt's Finest: A Crime-to-Comedy Transformation

Joining the cast are familiar faces Max Hubacher, Svenja Jung, Wolfram Koch, and Peter Kurth. Apart from their roles in "Dying for Beginners," these talented actors have graced our screens as detectives in the famous "Tatort" franchise. With Wolfram Koch making his mark as Kriminalhauptkommissar Paul Brix in Frankfurt am Main from 2015 to 2024, Melika Foroutan and Edin Hasanovic are set to take on the mantle. The premiere date for their first crime drama in the series is yet to be announced.

Life, Loss, and Laughter: A Journey Beyond Grief

The movie "Dying for Beginners" is set to leave its mark, predicts Hasanovic. "I've had the chance to interact with people who've watched it, and it's amazing how many different feelings and thoughts the film evokes. People are just touched in different ways, and I'm anxious to see what viewers take away from the movie," he adds.
